Acne can be caused by many things, one common one is hormones (its not too many sweets). They can occur all over the body but more commonly on the face, chest and back. At the heart of acne lies the pimple, a plug of fat, skin, and keratin. When open, the plug is called a blackhead, closed, a white head. To help control it, keep oily areas clean and don't squeeze pimples as it can cause infection and scars). Three commonly used medications to treat acne are: benzoyl peroxide, retinoids, and antibiotics. We at Planet Skin also have a range of treatments on offer that could help you fight this common problem. skin age or liver spots (lentigines)
These are caused by sun exposure not age but they do multiply as you age due to continues sun exposure. This is why we tend to see them on the hands, face and neck more ofeten than other areas as they get more sun exposure. We at Planet Skin have treatments that will lessen their appearance. To rule out serious skin conditions such as melanoma, see your GP. There are treatment that we can advise that will help with the appearance, including VPL, Microdermabrasion and an Environ Product in the Evenescence Range that will help draw out the pigmentation.
